RAV4 Cargo and Towing Capacity

The RAV4 was made for adventure. That’s why it’s available with several powerful All-Wheel Drive systems. When you head out on that road trip or camping trip, you can store all your gear in the back and tow whatever else you need.

Behind the rear row, the RAV4 has up to 37.6 cubic feet of cargo space. If that’s not enough room, you can fold the entire back row down flat and use up to 69.8 cubic feet of cargo space when you need it.

The standard configuration of the RAV4 can tow up to 1,500 pounds when properly equipped. On higher RAV4 trims, the automatic transmission fluid cooler ensures the transmission doesn’t overheat when towing heavy loads.

On higher trims, the RAV4 can tow a maximum of 3,500 pounds with the proper equipment.

Toyota RAV4: On the Road

From daily commutes to weekend getaways, the RAV4 has impressive performance capabilities. It can reach an EPA-estimated 28 city and 35 highway MPG.¹ You could also choose one of the available hybrid trims, which earn an EPA-estimated 41 city and 38 highway MPG.¹ Either way, you’ll have exceptional gas mileage.

You can take that performance to the next level with available Multi-Terrain Select. This gives you drive modes to handle most terrain:

• MUD & SAND
• ROCK & DIRT
• SNOW
• NORMAL

You’ll also get to choose between two available engines. The standard option is a 2.5L 4-cylinder engine that offers up to 203 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque. There is also an available 2.5L 4-cylinder hybrid engine with an electric motor that achieves 219 combined net horsepower.
