RAV4: Towing Across Trim Levels

Toyota RAV4

With 11 trim levels to choose from, your maximum towing capacity will vary depending on the RAV4 configuration you choose. All RAV4 models come standard with a powerful 2.5L 4-cylinder engine, though Hybrid trims also have an electric motor.

Whether you get your RAV4 standard with Front-Wheel Drive (FWD) or upgrade to All-Wheel Drive (AWD), you’ll have a 1,500-pound maximum towing capacity on gas models and a 1,750-pound maximum towing capacity on hybrid models, with two exceptions.

The Adventure and TRD Off-Road trims are both capable of towing a maximum of 3,500 pounds thanks to their many road-conquering capabilities. The standard Dynamic Torque Vectoring AWD sends half the available engine power to the rear wheels. Then, this system directs the remaining energy to each wheel as needed.

Additionally, you can have any trim of the RAV4 equipped with available tow prep equipment, such as a tow hitch receiver and wiring harness.
