2021 Toyota Highlander Technology Features

The Highlander has a number of great technology features that either come standard or are available as upgrades. Among the standard features you’ll find is an 8-inch touchscreen that uses Apple CarPlay® or Android Auto™, depending on your smartphone type. Each app lets you continue using your phone for calling, texting, and accessing playlists.

When you’re ready to plan that next vacation, a navigation system in your vehicle will be useful. While both Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ can provide mapping, the available Dynamic Navigation offers more of an upgraded experience.

You’ll feel like a local in new places as the cloud-based technology keeps you informed about the routes you’re traveling on. You will also be able to request different nearby points of interest in order to find a great restaurant or entertainment attraction.

2021 Toyota Highlander Safety Features

In faraway places or on familiar streets, safety will still be called for. With Toyota Safety Sense™ 2.5+, you will find six standard features that have been designed to keep you safer on the road.

One of these features is Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC). Not only can you set a consistent speed but also the following distance between you and the vehicle in front of you. When needed, your speed can be adjusted.

Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist (LDA w/SA) is another feature, and can help make sure you are staying within your lane. Warnings and corrective steering can swiftly move you over to where you intended to be.

Another innovative feature is Road Sign Assist (RSA). This feature watches for nearby road signs and lets you read them closer by putting their information in your instrument cluster.

Other features in this standard system include the Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection (PCS w/PD), Lane Tracing Assist (LTA), and Automatic High Beams (AHB).

2021 Toyota Highlander Interior and Cargo Room

The 2021 Toyota Highlander comes with different seating options depending on your family’s needs and preferences. Standard 8-passenger seating includes second and third-row bench seating, while the 7-passenger arrangement will feature captain’s chairs in the second row.

Regardless of setup, both rows can fold down to make more cargo room available. The third row folds in a 60/40 split-folding style, as do the second-row bench seats. With the 7-seat model, the captain’s chairs can also be folded flat.

When you do so, cargo volume totals out to 84.3 cubic feet. With the second row in use, you will still have plenty of storage with 48.4 cubic feet.
