2021 Toyota Camry vs Hyundai Sonata

Toyota Camry vs Hyundai Sonata

Seeking a new sedan near Zanesville, Cambridge, Coshocton, or Newark, Ohio? You might be looking into either the 2021 Toyota Camry or the Hyundai Sonata for their stellar performance, capability, and available comforts.

We at Zanesville Toyota compare the two sedans in this Toyota Camry vs. Hyundai Sonata comparison. Check it out today to learn more about these two great models, and contact our team if you have any questions!

Camry vs Sonata: Performance

Toyota Camry PerformanceYou might first look to the engine options on these two models. They both feature a standard 4-cylinder engine, and their performance metrics only differ slightly:

  • Toyota Camry standard engine: 203 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque
  • Hyundai Sonata standard engine: 191 horsepower and 181 lb-ft of torque

However, you’ll see more definitive differences in their available engines. While the Toyota Camry offers an available V6 engine and a hybrid engine, the Sonata only offers two available turbocharged 4-cylinder motors. The Camry gives you more variety in the style of engine and the added benefit of a hybrid choice.

The Camry’s available V6 engine produces up to 301 horsepower. This outperforms both the Sonata’s 2.5L and 1.6L available engines, which deliver 290 horsepower and 180 horsepower, respectively.

Also, the Camry’s hybrid engine will produce some incredible fuel economy. The Camry LE Hybrid will allow you to travel up to an EPA-estimated 51 city/53 highway MPG.* Unfortunately, the most you’ll get with the Sonata is an EPA-estimated 28 city/38 highway MPG.

Camry vs Sonata: Capability

Toyota Camry Interior TechThe Camry and the Sonata come standard with a number of capable systems that can help stabilize your vehicle in a variety of circumstances. These include Stability Control and Traction Control systems along with Hill Start Assist Control. You’ll also find a standard Tire Pressure Monitor System to make sure each wheel is well inflated.

The Camry, however, is the only one of these two sedans that offers an available All-Wheel Drive system. With this upgrade, you’ll have the benefit of extra torque and traction should adverse weather conditions create slick roads or when you travel over bumpy terrain like gravel. Unfortunately, the Hyundai Sonata only comes with Front Wheel Drive, so you won’t be able to enjoy the extra traction benefits of an All-Wheel Drive system.

Camry vs Sonata: Interior Comforts

Toyota Camry Interior SeatingBoth models offer different interior comforts for the driver and your passengers. These available comforts include the following:

  • Dual zone automatic climate control
  • Heated and ventilated front seats
  • Heated steering wheel

For added fun, you’ll find an available moonroof on the Camry and a sunroof on the Sonata. The biggest difference with these available features is that they’re more readily accessible on the base trim of the Toyota Camry. If you’d like these upgrades, you can simply add them. Unfortunately, you can’t find them on the base trim of the Sonata, which means you’ll have to move up to a higher trim level to access them.

The Camry may also be a better option if you frequently plan to have passengers ride in the back seat. It offers three extra inches of legroom than the Sonata, so there will be more room to stretch out.
