The 4Runner Can Handle a Heavy Load

Get to your destination without missing a beat or your cargo. The Toyota 4Runner gets a maximum towing capacity of up to 5,000 pounds and comes standard with an integrated towing receiver hitch and wiring harness with four and seven-pin collectors. To be able to tow so much, the 4Runner needs to have a powerful engine to back it up.

If you were to pop open the hood of the 4Runner, you’d find a 4.0-liter DOHC 24-Valve V6 engine with Dual Independent Variable Valve Timing with Intelligence. This engine generates 270 horsepower and 278 lb-ft of torque and comes standard in every 4Runner trim.

The 4Runner also comes standard with a 5-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission with intelligence and sequential shift mode, making it easy for the 4Runner to adjust to anything you’re towing on any terrain.
